“My mother said to me,
‘If you become a soldier you'll be a general;
if you become a monk you'll end up as the pope.’
Instead, I became a painter and wound up as Picasso.
--Pablo Picasso
Perhaps This Is One Of The Lessons To Be Learned…
When I first read that quote many years ago, it made me stop and think: Just what was Picasso saying?
Certainly, his mother believed in the greatness and possibilities for her son. And while not wanting to disappoint the hopes and aspirations for him from a loving parent, ultimately, Picasso knew deep down he simply had to follow his heart and his calling.
What about you?
What have you wound up becoming thus far in your life’s journey?
And more importantly, what “kind of Picasso of your talents” have you become?
It matters not what you do in this life, as much as it does on how much with all your heart and soul that you do it.
That is, how have you taken your amazing gifts, talents and abilities and then created the kind of dreams that are worthy and big enough to use those talents?
How have you used them – to the best you are capable of each day – to change your life, to help others, and to bring you the kind of happiness and fulfillment you so desire?
Does your life have the signature and one-of-a-kind imprint and stamp of YOU and everything that you are written all over it?
Or, have you just accepted things and events as they are, have blended in with everyone else – the crowd – and hope, just hope that some day things will be different?
Here’s what I think Pablo Picasso would tell you…
“Each day, do something to let ‘Your Picasso’ grow.”
Let it rush over you and envelope every part of your being.
Let it infuse your all of your life with its power of greatness.
Let it open its wings and take you and your life to a place, and a new level of experience and possibilities, where exciting and brand new wonderful life experiences wait for you.
Picasso could’ve been anything.
And you know…so can you.
